Drive-by gun maniac in 130mph chase
A MANIAC driver sparked a massive police chase after he fired two gunshots from his car, then raced off at up to 130mph.
David Scullion drove on the wrong side of the road, went through red lights and forced other drivers to swerve to avoid head-on crashes during the 20-minute pursuit. The High Court in Glasgow heard the 28-year-old stopped at one point in the middle of a country road, got out the car, and brandished a sword at police officers.
Security supervisor Scullion, formerly of Allan Crescent, Dumbarton, then hit a police car with the sword before speeding off again.
He was finally boxed in by police cars on the A82 near Luss after a 22-mile chase. But he refused to leave his car and officers had to smash the windows to remove him.
advertisementIn court Scullion, a prisoner in Greenock, admitted dangerous driving on September 1 this year, culpably and recklessly discharging a firearm, assaulting police officers by brandishing a sword at them and vandalising a police car by striking it with the sword.
Scullion also admitted assaulting a woman in a bar on August 24 by hitting her on the head with a spanner.
He pleaded guilty to smashing a TV, speakers and a fruit machine in the pub, stealing a safe and its contents, and smashing a car windscreen.
He also admitted butting a man and striking him on the head with a sword.
Sentence was deferred for background reports.
