WOW is thr worst childish game ever.

Unread post by Flatulance » Fri Oct 12, 2007 12:51 am

I played the trial, was bored within 10 mins. Kept playing for a few days.

Realised it was still boring. Graphics childish and lack of detail. Although it did run really fast.

It reminded me of a ps1 game I played 10 years ago, in terms of the graphics. And that game was boring as well.

I will never play WOW ever again. In fact i got that bored playing it, i through my character off of a flying ship thing - for a laugh.

Swg is far superior in every way.

Thats exactly how I felt. Which is also the reason it runs so well. Its all low poly, low detail N64 Zelda online :P

WoW fell at the first post for me when it offered me two possibilities: good hair and ears like bananas or normal ears with a fright-wig for hair.

And..... it all seemed very pink!
Not for me.

WoW's graphics are, shall we say, "whimsical." They're kind of a cross between Bedrock, the home town of The Flinstones, and a bad Japanese anime. If you can get into the vibe of the whimsy, it does show some charms: young drakes wearing floppy hats, a speed buff for your mount called a "carrot on a stick," and a cartoon spoof on surrealism, in the form of the Caverns of Time. Probably the best thing WoW had going for it, though, was the high-end (well, at least it was high-end prior to the launch of the first expansion...) PvP battlefield, Alterac Valley. It was big enough for some genuine tactical maneuvering to take place, and instanced to require roughly equal numbers to enter on both sides before the instance would launch.

Basically, it's like living inside a cartoon. It'll either work for you, or it won't.

For me, the most off-putting first-impression-setting elements were the donkey ears on the Night Elves, and the look of the Big Armor and Gear. I mean, damn...

Except cartoons have rounded edges. As a geeky fellow who has had a dabble at making 3D models, all I can see is blocky squared off models and colourful textures.

heh.. now I've gotten to reminiscing on the battlegrounds. And I found one of the screenies of a kill-tally sheet from one typical battle, which I'd saved on my Photobucket page. Note the #2 ranking in Killing Blows, but also note my standing in the Honorable Kills column. Yahkee used to dominate the center of the map in Warsong Gulch, where I could utilize his speed and crowd-control shots to stop an enemy flag run, or to pick off enemy pursuers chasing our own flag carrier. Oftentimes, I'd slow someone enough that a group of my slower teammates could hack the victim to bits, which meant I tended to participate in more kills than deliver the killing blow. But still, I got in plenty of my own licks.

But my favorite thing was to vector in on enemies racing down the side of the map at the start of the instance. LOVED to run their asses down -- them on horses, me on foot!

Now for the un popular contrary opionion. I think that WOW offers so much for so many it is a fantasic game. My only problem is the lack of maturity on every server Ive been on.

Where is MOB?
SWG: Liamee PhocVi (Bocknock Cheflaphod inactive)
Vanguard: Lores, Lore
LOTRO: Lores, Lored, Helores, Cramps
Conan: Lores Lored
Warhammer: Lores, Lored, Reikiho, Shootist

There used to be a pretty heavy MOB presence in WoW, but it gradually petered out. People gradually went their separate ways.

Several created Horde toons (Orghrot, Necrosity, and Pakee) on Azjol-Nerub, and that was the contingent I followed. But Barchi and a couple others wound up gravitating to the Alliance side. I just never really got up enough motivation to develop an Alliance toon. For my part, I kinda drifted through three guilds, but when the third one's members started snubbing those of us who hadn't "done the work" to get "properly geared up" (i.e., we johnny-come-latelies hadn't burned ourselves out on the Molten Core/Onyxia/Blackwing Lair series like they had), I decided I'd had enough of the overgrown WoW kiddies and went to LOTRO, where I now have two toons capped at level-50.

Spectus is also a Grand Master Tailor and a fearsome presence in the Ettenmoors (the PvP zone), and my Dwarf Guardian, Kaar Darkwanderer (guardians are the game's tank class) is closing in on Grand Master Armorer. Gelfling and Barchi (hope they don't mind if I 'out' them here) show up from time to time, while Hotblack started up a couple of toons on Elendilmir during Open Beta, then promptly split to another server to game with some old friends from home, and didn't bother to tell me. Hokay, fine, whateverrr...

The best thing I can see about WOW is the infamous South Park episode, when Cartman and gang play WOW - the funniest eposide that I have ever seen.

I once sent Blizzard an email asking for an adult only server. Never heard back from them. I wonder though if a movement by those of us over older folks could start to get this request out to developers.
SWG: Liamee PhocVi (Bocknock Cheflaphod inactive)
Vanguard: Lores, Lore
LOTRO: Lores, Lored, Helores, Cramps
Conan: Lores Lored
Warhammer: Lores, Lored, Reikiho, Shootist

I agree that it would be great if Blizzard would provide an adult-only server for people aged 25 and over. I believe it would set a healthy precedent for the rest of the MMO gaming companies.

However, it wouldn't entice me to play. I tried WoW because my RL friends love it. I feel I gave it a fair try and found that it is not a game I want to try again. Definitely not one for me but I salute your attempt to get Blizzard to do this.

Good luck!

If I wanted to invest time into a second MMO (Which I currently dont), then LOTRO is the one I'd play. I've lost all interest in the upcoming POTBS since I found out all ship control is 3rd person, with AI crew.

My point isnt necessarily suggesting that you would want to play a new mmo atm rather, that for change to occur it generally takes time. Every chance you get whether in a forumn or if you have the ear of a developer propose the idea.

Yes, I know enforcement would be an issue but it would be a start.
