ONE of Hobart's best-loved Santas has been robbed while he was listening to children's Christmas wish-lists.
Centrepoint's Santa, Christopher Gaul, had his wallet stolen from his dressing room.
With Santa hats, fur-trimmed red jackets and Christmas fare lining the room, he says it was obvious who the wallet belonged to.
"I'm very disappointed, just so disappointed that somebody would do that to me," said 73-year-old Mr Gaul.
On his half-hour lunch break last Friday Mr Gaul went to get his lunch from his dressing room and found his bag and all its contents strewn across the room.
"My wallet was missing, I didn't believe it," he said.
"I checked my car and called my wife but no wallet. Then I knew it had been stolen."
It was a gift from his daughter, with his initials embossed in gold, and contained $168 set aside to buy his wife's Christmas present.
