PDF Reader/Writer Recommendation

Unread post by gelfling » Tue Aug 28, 2007 11:24 pm

After the umpteenth irritating issue with Adobe Reader and its associated Updater software on three different computers (all are properly maintained Windoze machines), I started to look around for alternatives.

If you are also experiencing problems with it on your computer(s) then I recommend trying Foxit's PDF reader; I really can't recommend it highly enough. I've been testing it alongside Adobe's offering for the past two months and have found it an absolute pleasure to use. I haven't encountered a PDF that it cannot read and so Adobe Reader has been ceremoniously uninstalled from my computer forever :D

No more waiting fifty five million minutes for Adobe Reader to raid my computer and consult an astrologer before it deigns to load. No more having to wade through the seventy nine new language updates and other x.01889432.9085432 programme updates. No more having to reboot the computer in order to stop the updater software which manages to get itself into a tiswas every single time.

Foxit loads immediately when you ask it to, closes when you tell it to do so and loads any file in your Web browser straight away. No fuss. No hassle. Just like it should be :)

Yah I just installed this. I got tired of Adobe Reader taking forever to load, or hanging my browser and bloating my system.

Foxit however installed so fast I didnt see it. I clicked the shortcut and it popped open within seconds. Screw Adobe :P
