Nah...Think Kirk woulda won that election. Picard is too much of a sissy.

Take for instance the following scenario:

On the big screen, there is a looming vessel. Obviously a fully functional warship approaching on an attack vector.

Picard's response: "Let's try and communicate with it...oh no! They're shooting at us! Put up the sheilds and try hailing them...maybe we can talk them outta shooting at us."

Kirk's response: "Screw this...lets open fire and have sex with their freaky green alien women."

Hmm...and it changed. When I viewed it the first time, all I got was a picture of Piccard as president...now its 3 pages of pics. Damn you Interweb!
