DNS Probs

Unread post by Anach » Sat Apr 12, 2003 4:38 am

Today i have had problems with both my no-ip.com DNS addresses.
They both resolve to 2 seperate IP's when i do a dns lookup. both within the same range of adresses. example.

203.113.244.1
&
203.113.244.2

So when trying to log into either a ftp or P2P hub, you have a 50/50 chance of getting the wrong IP it seems.

Looking in the DNS client software, it says it points to the right IP and so does the client homepage.

Though ping and trace will come to the wrong IP.

another example. I lookup the nstashub.no-ip.org IP using sam spade. and get back two IP addresses.

203.113.244.181
&
203.113.244.133

will come up. so when i try connecting to the hub with the DC++ client i sometimes get the correct ip. .181 and sometimes get .133 which is wrong and wont connect.

if i ping that address "nstashub.no-ip.org" i get the wrong ip.

whats going on. I try connecting to my own personal machine via the web and i get someones web cam server.. on another IP.
I hope this makes sense..

Aren't IP's 1 to 10 reservered per IP block? as in x.x.x.X.

It's annoying getting a web cam sometimes when visiting this web site. heheh. Anach you hope that nothing suss goes over the cam or people will think it's from your home... hehehe

The tech people in Tassy seem real stupid when it comes to setup setting. It's propbably the proxy cache again or a router messing it's tables up.

The other day your IP was 203.113.244.1 . So maybe others are on that.

Not sure if they are a reserved range but if so then the routers might be messing up.

People might be able to get around the problem by running a software firewall or security that will encapsulate the their IP's into the packets so as to skip proxy stages. The proxy server seems to be our problem.
