nsbittorrent?

Unread post by Psycho » Wed Oct 29, 2003 12:07 am

Saw some stuff in dc chat about a test local torrent server up.

Phil, want to tell us more?

To refer to what you were saying in the chat, I wouldn't care if you were only giving me 1k/sec. If I can get another nine guys to give me 1k/sec each, that would still be better than 4k/sec from one person in dc.... after waiting ages/begging for slot.

Even if the one seeder is upping at 1k/sec, it means that everyone who wants the torrent can finish at (about) the same time.

Its an idea worth researching, but we we would need seeders and someone to keep pasting urls or some shit :\

maybe i need to look into how it works on the seeder side :/ 8)

Sorry yea, that's the term. 'tracker', not 'server'.

Even though I'm aware that many online trackers sites go down due to huge bandwidth issues, surely for our little community it would not have a great impact?

Anyway, if you want a test case, I can host it for a while if you want. :)

I don't remembe seeing an announcement or FAQ, but if people want to try it out, there's a tracker (for NS only?) at: http://ntasbt.no-ip.info:6969/index.html

Unread post by Sponge09 » Wed Nov 26, 2003 8:19 pm

hmm well i setup the local bit torrent tracker about 2 weeks ago been running sice the announcement was put in general
http://tassyp2p.no-ip.com/p2p/viewtopic.php?t=554

been running ok for really popular files call of duty would have been good to host when everyone wanted it need at least 4 peopole to make the torrent worth whille

like just now we have 9 people alll lecching enterprise all 9 will be finished by morning well at latest early afternoon the seeder will probally end up distrubing the file on ratio off about 1.5 but 9 people would have got it have to love that !!
