The trailer looks ace but of the three, I felt that Simon Pegg was the most convincing :) Sylar still sounds like Sylar to me at the moment but he definitely looks the part. I can't wait to see it :)

i watched the hd version, and paused it on bones.
it's quite creepy how he's got the mannerisms down to a T
almost as creepy as me pausing a trailer

and simon peggs missus is from glasgow (got married in my old street actually) so he's got the added pressure of getting a shoeing of his wife if he screws up the accent

altho scotty was a tuechter...... linlithgow or aberdeen depending on who you speak to

Went to see the new startrek movie at the Imax theatre. Really looking forward to it, as some special scenes were shot for Imax specifically. Been looking forward to it for two weeks, had tickets pre-booked.

The plan was me and the wife were gonna go all the way to the nearest city , get something to eat and then get to the IMAX. So i had a small lunch and was very hungry.

Movie started at ten pm, we left at 7:15pm.

7:35pm car drops out of lightspeed and unable to sustain even warp factor 1. "Achh I canna dae it captain, the dilithiam crystyal is broken"

We stop on the hardshoulder of motorway, smoke and an awful stink bellowing forth from the engine. Look under the bonnet, hoping its nothing but a tribble that got stuck in their somewhere.

No such luck, smoke coming from the oil.

Call the breakdown people, told they would be 25mins tops, Im thinking fair enough, we may still be able to grab a quick bite to eat then on to the IMAX, its all good.

1 hour and 25 mins later the breakdown guy appears. Im thinking its cool we can still make it to the movie, and grab a burger there.

Breakdown guy puts the car on his truck, and drives for another 15 mins to find a safe spot as he has a phobia about standing on the hardshoulder of motorways, typical just my luck a breakdown guy that has phobias about dealling with breakdowns on motorways.

Anyway as he is looking into the issue, im still thinking we can still make it to the IMAX, to hell with food.

A ferengi looking little man appears and asks directions, he doesnt seem to understand that we dont know where his destination is, and wont go away. So i just randomly point in a direction and say I reckon its up their" the smelly freak seems to be happy with that.

Time ticking, tick tock tick tock. The breakdown guy discovers we have a leaky radiator, so its causing the car to overheat very quickly, damn mission over.
We get home at about 10:20pm. After about 15mins of staring into space and thinking bloody typical. I decide to turn on the tv, guess what bloody starttrek nemisis had just started. Its like the Q had intervened in my life and decided to piss me off by getting me home just in time for an old version of starttrek that i had no interest in watching.

My life is Crap.

Molten, Im glad to hear you've given up your life of crime.

Me on the other hand, I walked into our local Harris Teeter. Asked for 5 pounds of prime rib and promtly walked out the store. The manager stopped me in the parking lot and said wth, go pay! I told him that I would pay but only if I liked it after I ate it. When the cops came I was like, but that's how it's done on the internet. You know, the meat could have sucked and Id be damn for rewarding the cow or rancher for that crap. Good thing my BIL and SIL are cops.

It was a very thought provoking point you made there lores.

Whats a bill and sill?

I do watch stuff illegally on the interweb, whoever the main movies that I would actualy go and see at the cinema I dont watch. For example wolverine which i waited to see at the cinema and startrek which didnt quite work out, however hopefully the car will be fixed before sat and i can try again.

Most of the stuff I watch online are movies that I have never heard of, that I would never rent nor go to the cinema to see anyway. I also watched heroes and bsg online, however I had already paid for them as I subscribe to sky tv and these shows were shown on their, but I was so desperate to see em, I watched online , as we in th UK tend to be behind you guys in terms of when the show is shown.

And if I watched Startrek online, as far as I am concerned I have paid to see it, just couldnt get there, so justifying it is easy.

However your point I appreciate and understand. If everyone never went to cinema and no-one rented movies and only watched online then their would be no revenue made to create new movie's, people wouldnt get paid etc etc.

Also another point is piracy creates jobs, if no-one watched stuff online, jobs would be lost. As in software peeps to combat this stuff etc etc.

Its like if i didnt drop my sweetie wrapers in the street etc, then potentialy the bin man that goes around clearing up my crap, would get sacked, he would be unemployed, not pay taxes , and effectivaly destroy the economy etc.

I also remember reading a rumour somewhere, that Wolverine was leaked unfinished intentionally by the makers. So that it would create a marketing storm, and you would get peeps like me that would not watch the unfinished version adn go to the cinema, purely to see the film - im sure their si a phychbable term in there but i cant think of it.

Also im sure a lot of peeps that did watch the unfinished version also went to see at cinema to see the complete version.

It maybe that film makers are using the fact that people watch online for free, for marketing purposes and to also create a hysteria regarding the movie.

For example a movie called Outlander starring jim caviezal, was destined to be a straight to DVD affair. However after the movie been on the internet for free to watch illegally of course, for many months. It got so many good reviews and a fan base was created that wanted to see it at the cinema, it eventually got the green light to air in the cinemas.

So potentialy again filmmakers are using illegal downloads to propell movies to box office success.

It was leaked on the internet that wolverine had several alternate endings after the credits, which would make purists go bac and see it again, doubling up cinema revenue.

just saw it
fucking magic

bones stole it for me
simon pegg's accent was terrible

it screams of fanyboydom but i liked the way they rewrote history so they can do what they please with further films

and i really liked the wee nod scotty gave to star trek enterprise (how he tried transwarp beaming out on admiral archers prized beagle)

I'm glad you liked it Touc :)
I absolutely loved it and can't wait to see what they do with the next one. I also can't wait to see it again!

I enjoyed this film from the get-go but it was when you first see Bones and Kirk talking together, that I thought to myself that I was really enjoying this :) I thoroughly enjoyed the film and thought it was first class.

It was absolutely stonkingly brilliant and unlike the TNG films its antagonist was convincing.

No complaints whatsoever here.

Compared with James Doohan's version, Simon Pegg's accent sounded fine to me :)

Flat- BIL and SIL Brother-In-Law and Sister.

Im not trying to stop anyone from pirating. Im not the law, Im not your dad and I dont pass judgment on you. I have not lived a perfect life and Im not a bible thumper.

It's an interesting debate for me as it is clearly wrong yet so many find ways to justify their action. Justification has always fasinated me. I think it implies some sort of entitlement that simply doesnt exist outside that persons head.

My MIL(mother-in-law) was primary care giver to her cousin. He was mid 60's and had several hundred thousands in the bank. The part of town that he lived in went bad around him. He seldom left the house, paid his bills, took the garbage out, showered or even ate. He just sat in a chair and watched tv and smoked. He clearly had some mental problems.

MIL lived 500 miles away so she was not really able to provide much support. My wife and I tried to convince her that he needed to live in an assisted living home. Here his quality of life would improved, being in a safe environment with people his own age and proper food.

MIL had her eyes on the money. He died from deep vein trumboses(sp??) and was several days on the floor before my BIL found him. This a slow and very painful way to die.

MIL who has a history of selfessness and justification of her action got her money. My wife also got some of the money but she lead the charge to get him in a home. Her mother's behavior in this instance really sums her life up.

I realize this is an extreme case and in no way relates to stealing copyrighted material. But it is what sparked my interest in human justification of their actions.

I heard that Star Trek is the best prequal ever.

it's not really a prequel, but to say more would ruin it

and pegg was a lot better that the real scotty, but his I's and O's were all wrong. almost as if he was using a scottish accent but pronouncing those with an english one
also he was using mainly a glasgow accent, but it drifted into east/north of scotland from time to time. a wee bit more sing song than the gruffer glasgow one

for the way he played it, ewen bremner (spud in trainspotting) could have done the job and he a real accent to boot

Managed to see it, didnt make it to the IMAX, saw it on normal cinema. Really enjoyed it.

I thought Nero was a great baddie. I like the way when he introduced himself to chris pike. Hi christopher im nero. It was an unexpected introduction.

Bones was awsome he was bones. The whole cast were good.

But I actually wanted nero to win, and blow up the enterprise at the end.

Great reimagining of startrek, makes teh tng movies look amatuarish.

Although the willy wonka bit, with scottie slopping about the water tunnels was a bit mental.
