Most females lie "more cleverly and successfully than men" about everything from cheating on their spouses and shopping binges to barhopping and facelifts, according to a new book published this week.

"Women lie as a survival technique, but also to get what they want," Susan Shapiro Barash, author of "Little White Lies, Deep Dark Secrets: The Truth About Why Women Lie," told the New York Post.

Barash interviewed 500 women nationwide and found 75 percent lie about how much money they spend, while more than 60 percent admitted to cheating on their husband.

Motherhood came in second, followed by sex, their kids' accomplishments, love, family, addiction, work and infertility.

Nothing more than opinion dressed up as "fact" imho. The most accomplished liar I have ever had the misfortune to know is male. That doesn't mean anything about anyone else other than the person concerned.

Conversely, the most honest person I have ever met is female. That also doesn't mean anything about anyone else other than the person concerned.

Women can lie and be far more convincing than men, I do believe that is the point here. I am a terrible liar, so I am just blunt and honest. I think some people would rather I lie.

That point is exactly what I am disputing
500 women in one country is not conclusive. It just means that 75% of the 500 American women asked, admitted to lying to save face. If the author had also asked 500 men, that would be a better result, although still a poor one, because it's such a small and subjective number of people.

I don't think liars need anymore air time or attention. Better to ask those people who are honest why they are so.
