Seven Levels of Tabula Rasa

What’s the first thing humanity should be sure to protect in the event of alien invasion? Its brightest minds? Its strongest labourers? Its finest art? A lock of Elvis’ hair? Wrong, wrongity wrong. It’s Dell PCs, of course!

Tabula Rasa’s bloody full of them. Everything else is as alien as can be, but high performance Dell XPS gaming systems are everywhere. The implication is that Dell will save humanity. So I suppose I’d better go and buy one. Otherwise aliens will get me. I don’t object to in-game advertising that strongly so long as it’s subtle, but this is out-and-out ridiculous

LOL! Now, what they need to do is put in a few Dull XYPS machines into the game at later levels, just to redeem their credibility. And from a marketing perspective, it'd work, I tell ya! IT WOULD WORK! Just THINK of all the buzz that would be created! And the sympathy vote for Dell, with this big, bad, evil game giving poor little Dell the beat-down....

Or, maybe not.

As for the article, the author manages to make the game itself sound like a Generic MMORPG In A Sci-Fi Setting. Kinda jarring, given Richard Garriott's history as one of the legends of thought-provoking gamedom. Makes me want to wonder what people will find in a month or two.

I found the game boring in beta.

Reading that made me search the Internet to make sure it wasn't published by EA. It's hard to conceive of a. Lord British making a crap game and b. "stooping" to advertising.

It's quite surprising.

He's been writing a column in PC Gamer mag all year, mostly as a add for TabRas.

If it's not a generic sci-fi MMO, then what is it. We've certainly got our fair share of generic fantasy MMO's out there.

Like any generic fantasy game, it would certainly need to be a top notch game to peak my interest. Although that's not what i've been hearing.
