Warhammer Online delayed again

I have several friends in LOTRO who are refugees from Dark Age of Camelot, and were following the development of Warhammer Online with bated breath. Unfortunately for them, the launch was delayed from Christmas '07 to Spring '08.

Well, the latest now is that WHO has been pushed back again -- to somewhere in the first EA Mythic's 2009 fiscal year, which translates to somewhere between April and November '08.

Which, hopefully, is a Good Thing for the MMORPG industry as a whole, because MAYBE it shows people have learned the Great Lesson of SWG: Don't Release A MMORPG When It's Not Ready.

/discuss?

Warhammer looks good and the little I have heard of it so far sound promising. If it's been delayed, I would think it's been delayed for financial reasons so EA can gather together the necessary funds to support the game and the infrastructure required to make it a success.

That was the lesson of Vanguard. SWG was fine - its lesson to the MMO industry lies in the half-baked NGE and not release. Vanguard whilst interesting and complex was barely complete by the time it launched.
