Star Trek Online (STO)

Unread post by Anach » Thu Jan 07, 2010 9:38 pm

Gelf and I have purchased it, and while we both have closed beta access, it ends in a few days, so we wont bother downloading it at the moment, but we will be in the open beta. Who else can we expect to see?

You guys best come up with a fleet name if you want to stick together. Need 5 members to form a Fleet (Guild). "Bastards" is not an allowed word in the Star Trek universe apparently, even though "Klingon Bastards" killed Kirk's Son.

If someone comes up with a name, ill add it to a poll.

Um, maybe it could be somthing different

My current guild on LOTRO is "The Last Alliance".

Since we seem to be bringing old (and new) friends together somthing on the lines of Alliance seems to be appropriate.

I will be there starting today as well as one other old mobster. Might be time for a change. never cared for the MOB name myself. But will go with the flow
SWG: Liamee PhocVi (Bocknock Cheflaphod inactive)
Vanguard: Lores, Lore
LOTRO: Lores, Lored, Helores, Cramps
Conan: Lores Lored
Warhammer: Lores, Lored, Reikiho, Shootist

The American people will never knowingly adopt Socialism. But under the name of 'liberalism' they will adopt every fragment of the Socialist program, until one day America will be a Socialist nation, without knowing how it happened.

I don't mind what it is, as long as it's not something awful. I also have no desire for any leadership duties, I would like to see it simply as some friends playing together, without the hassles of managing anything. Regardless, I'll be spending all my time in the holodeck with the Orion slave girls.

A large structured Guild/fleet isn't really what we are after. Not looking for a repeat of the previous scenario. So the only way we can be sure of not having any expectations upon us (or anyone) is to form a small group ourselves (which we did.) With no hassles of recruiting or leadership posturing, just friends.

If you were running it A'ton, I would honestly have been happy to have joined because I know how well you would run things and I would be happy with that :)

We set up a small fleet just for the ease of staying in touch with one another a couple of days ago and would be very glad to game with you and with anyone else in MOB, whenever we're all online :) Our fleet is called The Drunken Admirals and as has been said, it's just friends with no division of rank or intent to recruit strangers :)

Us as well, no web sites, no forum just friends and evryone is the same rank.

TBH, in ST:O it's not much more than a chat channel

That was a good read :)

So im guessing the game has a lot of bug issues...

Is the game worth getting?

A LOT of bugs. I'm still on the fence over the long term playability of STO, but for now i'm enjoying the quests while leveling.

Except for one mission that we just couldn't even start, aka The Big Dig, there wasn't anything bad enough to make you have to abandon the mish altogether. Many of the bugs seem to be UI related in that occasionally an item will show the stats of the one you just replaced but it actually has the new stats. Levelling up from Ensign through to RA5 is enjoyable and nicely paced imho. It definitely feels like Star Trek and ties in nicely with the television series and the films.
