Has anyone else been checking:
http://dragonage.bioware.com/ all day?
I know they're in Canada but pffft (if I've got my time zones correct) it's almost 2.30 p.m. over there
*impatient/excited*

Saw a gameplay-video trailer the other day. Looks really good, and it's being promoted as the spiritual descendant of Baldur's Gate. I'm thinking Bioware's gonna reap a huge advertising bonanza for this game from all the people surfing to their forums for the latest info on their new Star Wars MMORPG. Looks like an excellent candidate to fill the time til Star Wars: The Old Republic Online goes live.

In Dragon Age you won't be controlling just a single character. Rather, you can lead a party of up to four characters that, at times, will include guys as generic as the "tower guard" who offered to help with the mission, alongside characters who can presumably stay with you long term.
When the party entered the tower, the guy running the demo opted to swap out one of its number for an elven mage with an impressive arsenal of spells at her disposal. The reason for that became obvious, when moments after stepping through the door into the tower the greasy floor was set ablaze by an enemy hurling a fireball at it. The mage was able to extinguish the fire by calling down a swirling blizzard that left a thin layer of snow on the floor. That was impressive, and things only got better when we were shown how Dragon Age, like other BioWare games, gives you the option to pause combat at any time and give instructions to your characters while time stands still.

Oh my! They've actually put a release date on it! Wahoo!
*joy*
I can't wait to play this
Editing to add that I'm disappointed to see that a console version is to be made although somewhat hopeful that that cut-down version isn't going to be out until "Holidays 2009" - presumably for the non-politically correct humans out there, that means Christmas 2009? If that is so, well it isn't tooo bad and I can live with that. By way of explanation, Bioware stated that they would not develop this for consoles and that it would be PC only so that they wouldn't have to nerf the game quality and complexity. This was said at the outset and I hope that this will not affect the PC game.
Editing again to add that this sounds like it's going to play like Baldur's Gate III, which is ace news!

Good news then. It's not an MMO so play both!
