Legendary Pictures, the studio behind films such as the recent Spartan warrior-themed 300, now lists "Diablo" as an in-development project on the company's web site. No further official information is available at this time.
"World of Warcraft" is also a listed project, which on the web site links to a copied article from The New York Times about the game's success and prestige. However, this project also lacks a press release.
According to rumors on fan sites and gaming news sites, Gary Whitta is screen writing either just the one based on the Diablo series or both films. Whitta is known for being a former editor-in-chief of PC Gamer Magazine, writing episodes of American television shows Star Trek: Voyager and Futurama, and among other projects writing for top tier games such as Gears of War.
