Interesting read. I so enjoyed AC2, until I ran out of things to do. Took about 6 weeks to max. Horizons just sucked. Funny how many votes SWG has gotten. I think of it as not being a failure but as taking several ill conceived turns.

As MMOs are still relatively new should a business model exstend for 10 years like EQ or burn bright and die off quickly.

thoughts?

I think a long term plan is a good idea, there is no reason why a game cant evolve to be current during that entire period.

I thought this might have generated a bit more discussion.

I think if the product is not hurting your image, if you're turning a profit and if your dedicated resources are not keeping you from more valuable development then let them live on!

Thanks for your respince istick

Ok, here are my thoughts.

MMOs are the future as long as publishers create the with a few things in mind:

They must be easy to expand and maintain.
It needs to be practical to change the graphics engine.
Dont abuse your player base. ever!
Use the talents in your player base, they are usualy happy to help.
Your game needs its own identity, not another WOW clone / killer

Trying to compaire yourself to WOW is the biggest killer of a game in my opinion
