Hmmm... I spose I could **Lady** about the "children of CS" in here...
Then I could also pose the question: Why the fcuk do u kiddies like CS so much? what's the fn attraction to it? Years ago yeah, it was the best thing since roast noob, but maaan it's so old now!
There's still nothing like the feeling in Delta Force where u take sum1 out with the .300 Mag @ ~900m while they're on the run... really, there isnt... unless u do it with the M16 of course lol.
Far Cry... lots of potential, much better than CS, waaaaay newer/flasher engine... and u still run round blowing seven bells out of each other.
And as for the wait for the next release of games due out... well... that's a whole nother kettle'a fish!
*chants* Joint Ops, Joint Ops...

Cause CS is cheap, all the kids can get cheats easily to make them look uber leet.
Cheap arse HP systems that their parents buy them can still play CS.
So they can all get together and play on their 56k and not bother their parents.

Anach's got the goods there. I think a lot of it has to do with the simplicity of the game (it's just spamming, how many times do you actually see mission objectives being reached?), the low system specs required, and also the incredibly easy cheating.

I was a CS fan for a long, long, looong time and held out hope for ages, but the unending cheating, arrogance of the L337 online and general shitness of updates (OMG Steam! WTF?) finally killed off my interest.

HL1 had a great idea, but it's open architecture just means it's that much easier to abuse at the client level. Whereas prior online gaming was elevated almost to a sport level by Q2/3, HL was the 'chinese drugs cheat' farce that undermined any community support or faith in the integrity of online community gaming.

An entire generation of gamers, fixated on 'leveling the play field in their favour' now mod up their game to give themselves an advantage. That gamers now 'need' to use these 'because everyone else is' and this is their first resort to their own failure, rather than bothering to learn weapon control, map tactics, or team communication and co-ordination is quite saddening.

CS? Pfft. Give me Ravenshield for 'real' combat, Call of Duty for WW2 strategic team fun, or UT2003 for DM FFA.

/end rant :D

Glad to see we have at least 1 other reasonable, open minded person on here... I think ur rant is justified.
As for Finny and his PMs... lol if u can't say it in a forum then dont say it at all. No time for "macho" kiddies. "My brother's 20... blah blah blah" pffft who cares Finny, get a life.

At the last BFG run Finny showed us how his 'elite patches' defeated the latest anticheat patches, even online, and how they would get around other remedies, like a complete HL reinstall (they float between the graphic API and the application).

Last I saw, he was 'pwning' some sad puppies on the DSL.. . I walked off shaking my head.

yes he was showing his leetness in CS to someone at boss LAN too.

Another reasonwhy we wouldnt not even look at CS. plus if we found someone cheating, they are out on the street if they survived the response from several annoyed "grownups"

I too know all abou tthese cheats, i know what to look for.

Finny spent most the evening being votekicked from COD.

i could imagine something like that. As for BOSS LAN, there are some people there with not much patience or acceptance for such cheaters.

People are likely to get killed. Another reason why it has to be adults only.

Vouch his Dad and bro are cheaters too?

Or that they all cant get what they want, so they start making threats?

Finny is a spoilt little kid, who gets upset when he doesnt get his way and expects someone else to come bash people up and force them to make them do it his way.
Throwing a tantrum like a 2yr old.

Simply like the old "Ill take my bat and ball and go home if you dont do as i say"

No excuse for age. The others didnt behave this way did they?
